On my daily drive home from school each day I pass the remnants of this beauty- an old gum tree. In its day you could smell the gum from it even with the windows wound up. Nearby residents were worried that it would fall on them- and rightly so but I was sad to see it cut down. It sprouted forth for about six months before it gave up entirely and quietly died. I should imagine it will be there for a long while yet- it’s been there a long while already.

  1. This stump is amazing. How old do you think the tree would have been?

  2. Geez! Seeing that stump I’m glad our gum tree fell down when it did as it caused enough damage. I hate to imagine what it could have done being the size of the one in your photo!
